Author's notes: Be honest?

You are one of God's mistakes,
You crying, tragic waste of skin,
I'm well aware of how it aches ,
And you still won't let me in…

….the heartbeat beneath his hand beat in rhythm with the song that played quietly on the car radio and the rain that pelted against the tempered glass. Tom’s downcast eyes slowly slid back up to meet his brother’s; red beneath the kohl-liner that streaked down his cheeks unnoticed by their owner. Tom swallowed slowly, trying to find the words to explain himself; to explain why he was going back on his word. His mouth opened to speak, but nothing came out. A sarcastic laugh escaped Bill’s lips as he broke the tense stare and looked out the dash window into the darkness of the 2am night. A crack of lightening lit up the ravine deep in the gulley some 40 feet in front of them, followed by a loud rumble of thunder.

“I knew it…”

Now I'm breaking down your door,
To try and save your swollen face ,
Though I don't like you anymore,
You lying, trying waste of space…

“Bill, I… It’s not that.. I can’t..” Tom stuttered, trying desperately to meet Bill’s eyes again. Bill smirked softly, chewing on his lower lip and shaking his head in dismay. His eyes fixed on his lap instead as he tried his damnedest to let it sink in; he was alone in this.

Tom’s splayed fingers fisted Bill’s shirt tightly. His heart heaved in his chest, but he couldn’t say otherwise.

“How can you do this to me?” His voice full of hurt, Tom’s betrayal wearing through his last ounce of willpower. “You promised…” Another tear escaped its place and slid through the kohl wake, dangling from his chin before dripping on to his jeans where it disappeared.

Before our innocence was lost,
You were always one of those ,
Blessed with lucky sevens ,
And the voice that made me cry .
My Oh My...

You were mother nature's son ,
Someone to whom I could relate ,
Your needle and your damage done,
Remains a sordid twist of fate.
Now I'm trying to wake you up ,
To pull you from the liquid sky ,
Coz if I don't we'll both end up ,
With just your song to say goodbye.
My Oh My…

“I’m sorry.” Tom whispered softly. “Please Bill, stay here with me? Please…” Tom pleaded, attempting to place a kiss on his lips. Bill’s body tensed for a moment before he placed his hand on Tom’s chest, holding him in place.

“Don’t…” His voice was soft. He took Tom’s hand off his chest and placed it in his own lap before undoing his seat belt and opening the door.

“Goobye Tom…”

A song to say goodbye,
A song to say goodbye ,
A song to say...

Before our innocence was lost,
You were always one of those,
Blessed with lucky sevens,
And the voice that made me cry...

“Bill don’t!!” Tom called after him. Bill slammed the door in reply leaving Tom to struggle free from his own seat restraint. Upon exiting the car he found himself blind in the darkness, the rain stinging his skin relentlessly as he tried to shield his eyes to see where he’d gone.

“BILL!!” He screamed, cupping his mouth in his hands. A hiccup escaped him, followed by soul shattering sob. “BILL… Billa… You can’t…” His voice trailed off, lost in the storm. Sinking slowly to the ground, to the mud, he wrapped his arms around himself in defeat. “It was supposed to be a pact… together…”

A song to say goodbye,
A song to say goodbye ,
A song to say...
